Pitru Paksha ( पितृ पक्ष) Amavasya 2013
Pitru Paksha ( पितृ पक्ष) is a 16–lunar day period when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors (Pitrs), especially through food offerings. The period is also known as Pitru Pakshya, Pitri Pokkho, Sola Shraddha ("sixteen shraddhas"), Kanagat, Jitiya, Mahalaya Paksha and Apara paksha.
Pitru Paksha is considered by Hindus to be inauspicious, given the death rite performed during the ceremony, known as Shraddha or tarpan.
In southern and western India, it falls in the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada (September–October), beginning with the full moon day (Purnima) that occurs immediately after the Ganesh festival and ending with the new moon day known as Sarvapitri amavasya, Mahalaya amavasya or simply Mahalaya. The autumnal equinox falls within this period, i.e. the Sun transitions from the northern to the southern hemisphere during this period. In North India and Nepal, this period corresponds to the dark fortnight of the month Ashvin, instead of Bhadrapada.

Yatra to Sri Hemkund Sahib with Your Ultimate Travel Jockey
In
the Indian Himalayas, at the headwaters of the holy river Ganges, is
the 'northern land' of sacred mountains and waters known as Uttarkhand.
The contours of the valleys have been carved by the branches of the
great river. Paths, etched into the earth by the footfalls of pilgrims,
follow them to their source. It is said that in Uttarkhand the landscape
itself is imbued with sacred qualities; certainly the beauty of nature is interwoven with the spirit of pilgrimage.
Signpost of LinksUnique among the sacred places in Uttarkhand is a small lake, high above the tree line and surrounded by rocky peaks. On its bank, near a stream which leaves the lake then flows down to meet the Ganges, are two temples-- One is a Sikh Gurdwara. called HEMKUND SAHEB.

Teacher’s Day: A Special Day of Every one's life
Teacher’s Day:
Every
year in September (September 5) India celebrates the birthday of India’s second
President, Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. He was among the most influential scholars
of comparative religion and philosophy.
Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan:
Radhakrishnan
was born in a poor Telugu Brahmin family and got to studying philosophy almost
by chance when his cousin passed on his philosophy books to Radhakrishnan after
leaving college. Later Radhakrishnan would develop a deep interest in the
subject, mastering comparative religion.
He
won many awards which included British knighthood in 1931 (he eventually
dropped ‘Sir’ after independence), Bharat Ratna (1954) and Order of Merit
(1963).
Why Teacher’s Day is
celebrated?
When
he became the President of India, some students wanted to celebrate his
birthday, September 5, 2012. To which he remarked: “Instead of celebrating my
birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 would be observed as Teachers’
Day.”
That’s
how the day got to be celebrated…that’s what it said for a teacher “Good
teachers are costly, but bad teachers cost more. The best teachers teach from
the heart, not from the book.”

Happy Birthday to Lord Krishna
Krishna (कृष्ण )
is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Hinduism.
The name Krishna appears as the 57th and 550th name of Lord Vishnu in Vishnu
Sahasranama of the Mahabharata, and is also listed in the 24 Keshava
Namas of Lord Vishnu which are recited and praised at the beginning of all Vedic pujas.
A puja is the ritualistic worship offered in Hinduism.
According to the Bhagavata Purana, which is a sattvic purana, Krishna
is termed as Svayam Bhagavan since he was the purna-avatara or
full incarnation of the supreme god Vishnu. Krishna is often
described and portrayed as an infant or young boy playing a flute as
in the Bhagavata Purana, or as a youthful prince giving direction and
guidance as in the Bhagavad Gita. The stories of Krishna appear across a
broad spectrum of Hindu philosophical and theological traditions. They
portray him in various perspectives: a God-child, a prankster, a model lover, a
divine hero and the supreme being. The principal scriptures discussing
Krishna's story are the Mahabharata, the Harivamsa, the Bhagavata
Purana, and theVishnu Purana.
Worship of the deity Krishna, either in the form of Vasudeva, Bala
Krishna or Gopala, can be traced to as early as 4th century BC. Worship
of Krishna as svayam bhagavan, or the supreme being, known as Krishnaism,
arose in the Middle Ages in the context of the bhakti movement. From the
10th century AD, Krishna became a favourite subject in performing arts and
regional traditions of devotion developed for forms of Krishna such as Jagannatha in Odisha, Vithoba in Maharashtra and Shrinathji in Rajasthan.
Since the 1960s the worship of Krishna has also spread in the West, largely due
to many of International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
It's time to say Happy Birthday to Lord Krishna. This festival is celebrated not only in India but also in other countries with great enthusiasm and devotion by all the Hindus. He killed a lot of demons to save the humanity and earth. Lord Krishna was born in the prison and later used to in a small village named Varindavan. Krishna has been a great inspiration source for our generation. We celebrate Janmashtami Festival as birth anniversary of lord Krishna.

Wednesday, 2013 August 21 - Raksha Bandhan (The Bond of Protection)
Rakhi (Raksha Bandhan) is one of the biggest festivals of India. In 2013 Rakhi festival will be celebrated on 21 August...... 'Rakhi' is a special occasion to celebrate the chaste bond
of love between a brother and a sister, by tying a sacred thread around the
wrist.
Shravan purnima's second festival is Rakhi (Raksha
Bandhan). This is an ancient tradition. In India, Rakhi Purnima is also called
Kajri Purnima or Kajri Navami, when wheat or barley is sown, and goddess Bhagwati
is worshipped. In Western states, the festival is called Nariyal Purnima or the
Coconut Full Moon. In Southern India, Shravan Purnima is an important religious
occasion, especially for the Brahmins. Raksha Bandhan is known by various
names:Vish Tarak - the destroyer of venom, Punya Pradayak - the
bestower of boons, and Pap Nashak- the destroyer of sins.
Rakhi Myths &
Legends.....
According to one mythological allusion, Rakhi was intended
to be the worship of the sea-god Varuna. Hence, offerings of coconut to Varuna,
ceremonial bathing and fairs at waterfronts accompany this festival.
There are also myths that describe the ritual as observed by
Indrani and Yamuna for their respective brothers Indra and Yama.
Once, Lord Indra stood almost vanquished in a long-drawn
battle against the demons. Full of remorse, he sought the advice of Guru
Brihaspati, who suggested for his sortie the auspicious day of Shravan Purnima
(fullmoon day of the month of Shravan). On that day, Indra's wife and
Brihaspati tied a sacred thread on the wrist of Indra, who then attacked the
demon with renewed force and routed him.
Thus the Raksha Bhandhan symbolizes all aspects of
protection of the good from evil forces. Even in the great epic Mahabharata, we
find Krishna advising Yudhishtthir to tie the puissant Rakhi to guard himself
against impending evils.
In the ancient Puranik scriptures, it is said that King Bali's
stronghold had been the Raakhi. Hence while tying the rakhi this couplet is
usually recited:
Yena baddho Balee raajaa
daanavendro mahaabalah
tena twaam anubadhnaami rakshe maa chala maa chala

My meaning for Eid-ul-Fitr......Ultimate Travel Jockey
Eid-ul-Fitr literally means 'festival of breaking the fast'.
Lets celebrate this Eid together in sha ALLAH...
Eid Mubarak to whole Muslim Ummah ;) & Let us thank ALLAH for the help and strength that he gave us throughout the the month of Ramadan to help us practise self-control..
ALLAHO-AKBAR, ALLAHO-AKBAR. LA ILA-HA-ILL-LAL-LAH.ALLAHO-
(ALLAH is great, ALLAH is great. There is no god but ALLAH.ALLAH is great, ALLAH is great. And all praises are for ALLAH).

A night
such as Lailatul Qadr was not granted to any religious community (Ummah) before
Muslims. Only the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah
be upon him) were favoured with a night of huge reward. Once reason, it
was granted, was to enable Muslims to equal the worship of any people who lived
before us. In the distant past it is said that people lived very long lives of
hundreds of years.
We, today, live much shorter lives. And so Allah gave us Laitatul Qadr to enable us to do as much worship as a man who lived even hundreds of years longer. If in a lifetime, you only worshipped on Lailatul Qadr ten times, you would have equaled in those ten nights 833 years of worship. Signs of Laitul Qadr There are some signs that reveal which night is Laitatul Qadr. The night will be peaceful, neither hot nor cold, with a clear moon shinning but with no rays.
There will be no shooting stars in the night At sunrise the sun will rise as just a disc without and radiant beams of light. One companion of the Prophet reported that on Laitatul Qadr he tasted sea water and it was sweet.

Bharat ::: World called it INDIA
The Cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand mother of tradition....
"Civilizations have
arisen in other parts of the world. In ancient and modern times, wonderful
ideas have been carried forward from one race to another...But mark you, my
friends, it has been always with the blast of war trumpets and the march of embattled
cohorts. Each idea had to be soaked in a deluge of blood..... Each word of
power had to be followed by the groans of millions, by the wails of orphans, by
the tears of widows. This, many other nations have taught; but India for
thousands of years peacefully existed. Here activity prevailed when even Greece
did not exist... Even earlier, when history has no record, and tradition dares
not peer into the gloom of that intense past, even from until now, ideas after
ideas have marched out from her, but every word has been spoken with a blessing
behind it and peace before it. We, of all nations of the world, have never been
a conquering race, and that blessing is on our head, and therefore we
live....!"

My Bharat ::::: Your India ----Ultimately its Just amazing in world
India shares borders to the northwest with Pakistan, to the north with
China, Nepal and Bhutan, and to the east with Bangladesh and Myanmar.
To the west lies the Arabian Sea, to the east the Bay of Bengal and to
the south the Indian Ocean. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are Indian
Territory but lie off the coast of Thailand in the Bay of Bengal. Sri
Lanka lies off the southeast coast, and the Maldives off the southwest
coast.
The far north-eastern states and territories are all but separated from the rest of India by Bangladesh as it extends northwards from the Bay of Bengal towards Bhutan. India is separated from the rest of Asia by mountain ranges, forest, and desert -the Himalayan mountain range in the north, the Thar Desert in the west and the Chin Hills and Pataki ranges in the east. The Indus River runs through the northern disputed territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The most sacred of rivers, the Ganges, is in the east.
Best time to visit:
The weather is mainly hot most of the year with significant variations from region to region. The coolest weather lasts from around the end of November to the beginning of March, with fresh mornings and evenings, and mostly sunny days. The really hot weather, when it is dry, dusty and unpleasant, is between March and June. Monsoon rains occur in most regions in summer anywhere between June and early October.
Splendid Northern India: Srinagar is best from March to October; July to August can be cold and damp in winter. Shimla is higher and therefore colder in winter. Places like Gulmarg, Manali and Pahalgam are usually under several feet of snow from December to March and temperatures in Ladakh, which is a high-altitude desert, can be extremely cold. The mountain passes of Ladakh are accessible from July to October. Cities like New Delhi, Varanasi, Lucknow and Patna experience an extreme range of temperatures and are typically warm from April to mid-June, falling to almost freezing at night in winter between November and February. Summers are hot with monsoons between June and September.
Central India: Madhya Pradesh state escapes the very worst of the hot season, but monsoons are heavy between July and September. Temperatures fall at night in winter.
Western India: November to February is most comfortable, although evenings can be fairly cold. Summers can be extremely hot with monsoon rainfall between mid June and mid September.
Eastern India: Weather in states like Orissa (which is flood-prone) are defined by cooler weather from October to February, scorching heat from March to May and unavoidable drenching from the monsoons from June to October. Northeast: March to June and September to November are the driest and most pleasant periods. The rest of the year has extremely heavy monsoon rainfall.
Southern India: The most pleasant weather is from November to March. Monsoon rains fall anywhere between late April and July. Summer temperatures are not as high as Northern India although humidity is extreme. The coast benefits from some cooling breezes. Inland, Mysore and Bijapur have pleasant climates with relatively low rainfall. Tamil Nadu experiences a northeast monsoon between October and December and temperatures and humidity are high all year. The hills can be cold in winter.

Mausoleum for husband: A memory place built by a woman in memory of her loving husband in Najibabad
This is not a very well known story--that of a wife building a monument in memory of her husband. The mausoleum stands amid ruins in the historic Najibabad town in Bijnore district in Uttar Pradesh (UP), India. Unlike the story of Taj Mahal, which is famous across the world, and which was built by a husband in memory of his wife, the 'Chahar Minar' or 'Char Minar' in Najibabad, is a mausoleum which is testimony to a woman's love for her late husband.
She was no ordinary woman--the wife of a Nawab. She got the monument constructed to immortalize her husband who had died young. The tomb was built in memory of Nawab Jahangir Khan, the king of Najibuddaula--the founder of Rohilla dynasty at Najibabad.
Historians say Nawab Jahangir Khan was married in Kotra in Kiratpur. Two years
after the marriage, once when he had gone to get back his wife, he died in a
mishap. During the celebratory fireworks on his visit, a 'gola' (large
crackers) hit him.
The death of her husband shattered his wife. The Begum, then built the
'maqbara' (tomb) in memory of her late husband, at Moazzampur Teligarhi on the
outskirts of Najibabad.
The grave [Qabr] was in the middle under the big dome, with the four minarets
around it, on four corners. The dome fell long back. The minarets stand tall
even now. Each of these minarets is quite thick, three-floor tower, with
staircase leading to the top.
The building made of 'lakhauri' has minarets separated from each other at a
distance of 50 feet. The unique structure is crumbling now.
Nomani wrote that it Sardari Begam had built the monument for her husband
Jahangir Khan. Shouldn't such monuments be conserved?
Except Agra, the
condition of numerous such monuments in districts of UP, remains pathetic.
Unlike the famous Taj Mahal, this monument is expression of a
woman's love for her husband.

My Experience on Travelers - Ultimate Travel Jockey :-) India
After couple of travel with diff diff personalities of world's country, Allow me to quote Albert Einstein. His words describe my travel philosophy and much better than I can do so my humble English :-)
The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is strangers, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvellous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose the holy curiosity.
This is how true traveller live his or her life, how they want work environment to be and how they travel. And this will always be what drives anyone, what sparks, what they are burning for. They are not made for tour group travel: they would scream and feel suffocated the whole time. They are not made for masses: they would get claustrophobia. They are not made for discos and nightclubs: they would become deaf and blind.
A traveller who preferred travel style is to pack things, get on a plane, bus, train or in my car and start exploring. Exploring to world means that they try to immerse into a destination as much as possible, feel it, breathe the spirit it emanates, talk to the locals, or not talk at all, learn as much as they can from what surrounds them and enjoy the atmosphere of a local, region our country. This means that they try not to race through a place or a destination but stay there for a couple of days to get an idea of where they are and develop a feeling for the place.
Another reason why they like the lesser known destinations is very simple: they don’t like when places are being “reduced” to three or four famous destinations only. They are absolutely no “mainstream” traveller but do the things they like and very often they find the most marvellous sights. And this is why they won't stop to push on anything that is "custom made", in the original sense of the term :-)

They are absolutely no “mainstream” traveller but do the things they like and very often they find the most marvellous sights. And this is why they won't stop to push on anything that is "custom made", in the original sense of the term :-)
