Durga Puja-Dhunuchi Dance

The dhunuchi is a funnel based earthen pot that has an open top. Dhuno, powered incense and burning coconut shells are placed inside the dhunuchi, with thick smoke rising from the pot. Dhunuchi’s placed on palms, forehead and between their teeth, the dancers begin the balancing act to the tempo of the drum beat.

An integral part of Durga Puja celebrations are the deep percussion of the dhak, deco
rated with long white or multi-coloured feathers. The atmosphere smells of Shiuli flower, the official flower of West Bengal.Durga Puja is a time of reunion. Bengalis make that selective trip to be home for the festival. Women wearing white sarees with deep red broad borders, the festival is synonymous with Kolkata.

Plunge into festive Spirit in style:
Young men and women are dressed at their best during this festive season. Women wear brightcoloured Chaniya Cholis and men wear Kedias. Chaniya Cholis are hand embroidered and embedded with mirrors, shells and anything that goes with it. Women go to great extents experimenting on decorative accessories and jewellery that are a mix of traditional Gujarat and modern-day fashion.

"Chintamani Temple" is the fifth temple to visit during the "Ashta Vinayak Yatra."
Ganesha is believed to have got back the precious Chinatamani jewel from the greedy Guna for sage Kapila at this spot. However, after bringing back the jewel, sage Kapila put it in Vinayaka's (Ganesha's) neck. Thus the name Chintamani Vinayak. This happened under the Kadamb tree, therefore Theur is known as Kadambanagar in old times.

Chintamani Temple:The temple is located 22 km from Pune, off the Pune-Solapur highway, and is hence the nearest from Pune. The village of Theur sits at the confluence of three major regional rivers—Mula, Mutha & Bhima.

Moving on the third destination in AshtaVinayak Yatra to the "Ballaleshwar Temple".Among Ganesha temples, Ballaleshwar is the only incarnation of Ganesha that is known by his devotee's name.

Shri Ballaleshwar, Pali:
The original wooden temple was reconstructed in to a stone temple by Nana Phadanavis in 1760.
This Temple faces the east and has two sanctums. The inner one houses the murti and has

a Mushika (Ganesha's mouse vahana) with modaka in his forepaws in front of it. The temple is constructed in such a way that after the winter (dakshinayan : southward movement of the sun) solstice, the sun rays fall on the Ganesha murti at sunrise. The temple is built with stones which are stuck together very tight using melted lead.
Ganpati bappa morya,mangalmurti morya!!!
Second Temple to visit on AshtaVinayak yatra is "Siddhivinayak Temple" in Mumbai. Temple's glory was bought not only by the politicians who frequented the temple but also Bollywood film stars who continuously visit to seek the blessings of
 Lord Ganesha.
Reason ? well its being said that any wishes asked from Ganpati Bappa here is for sure granted, referred to as “Navasala Pavanara Ganapati ('Ganapati bestows whenever humbly genuinely prayed a wish' in Marathi).

Once upon a time, Akash, Sameer and Sid stood near the ramparts of a decaying fort, contemplating the vagaries of life. As they swore to visit the fort every year and so did we sitting in the movie halls watching them, the Chapora fort (or
the Dil Chahta Hai fort as it is more popularly known) went on to become one of Goa’s most popular tourist spots. Overlooking the coast, the fort offers great views of the Vagator and Anjuna beaches (Youngsters, when you are at Anjuna, don’t forget to visit ‘Curlies’ – a beachside food-and-drinks shack on the beach itself).
